KEDB and its Renewable Energy Committee coordinated the 2008 Kaua`i Renewable Energy Conference, held on September 8 & 9, 2008 at the Kaua`i Marriott Resort & Beach Club.  This call-to-action brought together local, state and national leaders in the renewable energy sector to present the current status, opportunities and challenges of renewable energy and to start developing the tools, actions and solutions toward an energy independent Kaua`i.  Speakers PowerPoint presentations and other information are made available on this site.

A Kauai Energy Sustainability Plan (KESP) is currently being developed for the County of Kaua`i.  The plan will take one year to develop and will suggest goals and implementation guidelines for the next 20 years.  SENTECH Hawaii was selected to develop this plan -- in partnership with Kauai Planning & Action Alliance and Maurice Kaya (former Chief Technology Office for the Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism and currently an energy and strategic management consultant) -- and has created a process that includes community input, energy analysis, report development and implementation by Kauai County and the private sector.  For more details, please click here.
